WELCOME!

Welcome to my Photography, Design, and Everything Else blog. I am a photographer for fun (meaning I don't know too much of what I am doing) and an aspiring graphic design artist. I have always been somewhat interested in photography but really started getting more into it after I had my son. Last Christmas I got my first Sony SLR Camera and the world of photography hasn't been the same since. I still don't know too much but the fact that I can now take some clear pictures works good enough for me. Upon following a few photography blogs I started to realize that even if you don't take a perfect photo, you can create one through photo editing. DUH! I started to become interested and learning new things through video tutorials. This re-sparked a interest I always had for graphic design. I dont have much time to go back to school right now so I have been self-teaching myself as much as I can. Since then I have begun to make flyers, business cards, and magazine ads for the store/dispensery 4ever20. I started this blog as a way to share some of my work with the world and so you can follow along on my learning journey to not only become a better photographer but graphic design artist as well. Along the way I will also be sharing whatever else I think I need to at the time. ENJOY!

Photo Shoot: Lake Shrine

>> Saturday, October 3, 2009

So after my first photography class I wanted to go somewhere beautiful to practice working my camera on manual. I had no idea where to go and my friend Jessica recommended Lake Shrine. It was one of the most beautiful places I had been. You can a little more about my experience HERE on my other blog about my son.

The one thing I always like taking pictures of is flowers. As soon as I walked in a saw a bunch. I think I ended up taking some awesome flower pictures. Here are a few to share:

I just love the beauty and the colors. There were so many pretty flowers at Lake Shrine. Especially roses. There were also a bunch of bees so since I had my super zoom lens I thought it be cool to try to get a close up picture with the bee...

after standing there trying not to get Tyson or I stung, here is what I got:

I actually got a couple with bees but this one looks the best. I just absolutely love the color of this flower and how brightly my camera caught it. Proud to say noone of these pictures have any photo editing. They are SOOC (straight out of Camera). Yay. I did play around with this picture though and wanted to see how a texture would work with it. Here is the final product:

I took a texture from already uploaded on photoshop and created a mask to let only the flower be seen through. I think it looks pretty cool. Like the background is cardstock.

Here are some other pictures I captured that aren't flower/plant related:

okay maybe one is plant related... forgot I had this one.

now below are perfect examples of how Shutter Speed works. I took a picture of this waterfall twice (about 2 seconds apart). The first one is at a faster shutter speed which is why you can see the detail of the "moving" water a little more clearly. If the shutter speed was even faster it would be even more clear.

This next one i changed the shutter speed to slower time and the water looks blurred. But also is a pretty cool effect. Dreamy in a sense. This is when it is up to the photographers creativity to show what he wants expressed. In both pics the exposure is good because I changed the aperture to match.

here is a picture that is a tad underexposed. You can see how light it is

I saw this girl there with a high tech camera taking some pictures as well and she spent quite some time trying to take a picture of this spiderweb. SOOO i figured I'd try as well. This is what I got

I think it looks pretty darn good. Thanks random girl.

Well thats all I have time to share right now. Hope u liked. I do! :) If you have a chance and want a peaceful quiet environment I deffinately reccomend Lake Shrine. It's off of Sunset and Palisades in Malibu. Check it out.
